|Personal History||The youngest of three children, and the only-non muggle, of a full blood, and muggle. After the first two children, who were 5 years older, and 4 years older, than Alantra, were both "terribly muggle" as her father would say.
Parts of his library were cleverly protected from muggles, using various enchantments. Given that his job kept him away from the house for months at a time, it wasn't uncommon for her mother to "misplace" Alantra, as she was hiding in areas of the library that Alantra could find, and her mother could not.
This also explains how, for the longest of times, she managed to hide her studies in the strange books from the school her father went to, in Quebec.
Notably, her personal favorite, a book she didn't originally understand was not, in fact, part of a fairy tale.
Just 90 days before her 11th birthday, however, she was reading the book, and happened to look down, realizing that she had accidentally transfigured herself, partly, into some kind of creature with fins.
Astonished, and ashamed, she worked very hard to hide this.
When a letter from Sir Wilfred Laurier L'école de sorcellerie, the Canadian school of witchraft, and wizardry, arrived, her father, after some deliberation, decided that she would be better suited to the school in Britain, given his position as the Canadian magical ministry's ambassador to the British counterpart.
