Mission: Parents Weekend
Location: Great Hall

Gryffindor and Slytherin Match 10 AM - Blizzard Conditions]

It was the first weekend in December and the castle was swarming with parents for the school's annual Parents Weekend. Sunday was scheduled the first Qudditch Match of the season Gryffindor Vs. Slytherin and it promised to be an interesting match, but the weather was less then ideal for a quidditch game as there was treating to be a blizzard and the driving snow and wind was kicking up something fierce.

[Great Hall for Breakfast 8:30 AM]

Evan was in the great hall with his parents, he piled sausages and eggs onto his plate with french toast and crumpets with marmalade, he was set so get his internal furnace stoked for the game. His parents picked out a more modest selection.

"They sure do know how to put on a spread" Mrs. Grant said to Mrs. Collins and the other mothers.

"I had no idea they fixed so much food," Tracy Collins replied. "I'd be spoiled if I ate here every day."

"It's better than they served at Salem Academy. I'll say that, but I don't think I'm going to try that!" Veronica said, pointing at a dish containing hagis.

"It's actually pretty good, you really should try some." said Humphrey.

"Not if you want to be kissing me anytime this week." said Veronica, only half joking.

Barny almost snorted milk out of his nose. "I'll stick with egg, ham and cheese sandwiches. Though that orange marmalade is good on the... crumpets." He was still getting used to the differences between what the English called some things and what the Americans called them.

"Ah, I've missed this. I swear if I'd been here any longer than the 7 years, I'd have weighed in heavier than the castle." said Mortimer.

James patted his belly and nodded in agreement. "Aye, without the workout on the farm, I've gained a little bit much around the middle, I'm going to have to start exercising more. Or get good enough with reducio to reduce just my gut."

Kelly sat alone, her parents hadn't shown up and there'd been no sign of Wellington today. She sighed and pecked at the food. She noticed one of the teachers looking in her direction and sighed again, then began eating the scrambled eggs, bacon and toast she had taken. The OJ followed quickly after. She had to admit, she liked the taste of the bacon, something she'd avoided for a long time because it was so fattening.

Professor Temur entered the Great Hall quietly, watching the parents mingle with their children.

Walking towards the teacher's table, she passed a distinct head of hair. "Good luck on today's match, Mr. Collins." she said as she strode past.

"Thanks, Professor!" Said Barny with a grin.

"What's this, sweet on one of your teachers?" whispered Veronica to Barny.

"It's not like that!" Barny said a little too loud and starting to flush. "I've only just met her, helped her carry her bags. Nothing improper."

Veronica smiled and let it drop, her son was growing up, she just hoped that he used some kind of protection.

Cassandra sat by her father. "I don't think you will get to see me play today but I'm glad you're here all the same." Cassandra said.

Her dad smiled at her, "It feels good to visit this halls again. Even if it is a bit bit strange seeing it from this end. Its kind of nice."

Satele and Bre entered the Great Hall a little late. Satele had been up all night studying her potions with the help of Bre's experience. The two of them walked over to an empty spot slightly away from the gathered families and sat down to eat. Both of their families were working over Christmas and only had Christmas day off so they wouldn't be coming.

Satele was used to this, but Bre wasn't and she wasn't taking it well. "It's alright Bre; we'll have our own Christmas here. I'm sure there'll be another party in the Common Rooms this year as well." Satele said to Bre, trying to reassure her and lift her mood. "Besides, there's a Cricket match on soon so don't look so down" she continued. Bre smiled, "It's Quidditch not Cricket" she said, her mood starting to lighten. "Are you sure, 'cause I thought I heard someone say Cricket?" Satele asked, knowing she was wrong but she thought keeping the ruse up would keep Bre's mood up. Bre nodded, "Yea, there's a Quidditch match on today between Gryffindor and Slytherin" she said, motioning towards the Gryffindor's in their Quidditch Pads.

"Oh, well I'm sure that will be just as good" Satele said, placing a hand on Bre's shoulder before returning to her plate.

Ben sat with his parents, trying not to display embarrassment by there constant reminders of how well he was doing, and how they wanted to see him "lead the team to victory". He couldn't dispute he wanted to win, but it was more about the fun of the game and getting it done.

Sam sat at the table, but his parents couldn't bother comming to breakfast, they were still sleeping where ever they were staying. He was pleased about it though, he didn't like being around them when he was at home, he certainly didn't like being around them here.
