Mission: Yule!
Location: The Three Broomsticks

"Okay," Pandora answered not sure what else to say as she took another sip of her drink.

"I know this is a question out of the blue, but would you like to go to the ball with me?" he asked, he was going to either find out what makes a Slytherin tick, bring her around, or find out what she was up to, he wasn't sure which yet. "I would like to get to know you better, and I know you guys don't like us, so what better way to make Gryfindor mad than being the date of one? They would think your house has corrupted me."

"I don't know that it would be a good idea, besides I have someone I will most likely be going to the dance with." Pandora said though Reg had not asked yet she was hoping he would. As far as she knew he hadn't asked anyone yet.

"Don't know why it is a bad idea, if you fear others judging you, you can't live life letting other's determine how you live your life." He said. "You most LIKELY will be going with someone? You mean that you want someone to ask you, someone that has yet to do so, well, you snooze, you loose, but if you say no, oh well, who wouldn't want to go with the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain?" He said, putting on somewhat of a grin.

"My sister was wiped from the family tree for getting into Gryffindor. I would get much worse if they found me out on a date with one, especially at a formal dance." Pandora answered. "It's complicated."

"Oh, Cassandra, I know her. But don't you guys connive all the time?" he said to her, he might be talking to her, but he still didn't like Slytherin as a whole. "Twist it that you are running a scam on me, you should be good at that"

"Peter would be too hard to convince." Pandora stated, "I could never lie to my mother either." She added under her breath.

"If you are worried about Peter, I can deal with him" he said, showing off his wand. "He doesn't scare me in the least" Ben said to her. "Why not be brave. I know your house is known to be cunning, but bravery has it's merit's as well, show them you have the heart to do something, and imply you have a plan."

"Why is this so important to you? " Pandora questioned, "It's just a dance. Any of the girls in your house or the others would be more than willing to go with you. Why me?"

"Why go for the girls that I know would say yes?" He said to her. He had plenty of opportunity, but he didn't want it to be that easy, he wanted to work. And, she was Slytherin, he could get information from her. "You are different than them."

"Yea I don't bow down at your feet and I never will." Pandora sneered, "I'm not going to the dance with you." She said.

"I haven't asked you to bow down at my feet, I asked you to a dance. If you fear reprisal from going to it with me, so be it. It is your loss, I can only hope that one day you can see that you don't have to live your life on how others want it to be." He said, fighting the urge to say more damning remarks to her.

"Where I come from you do or you are left with nothing." Pandora said as she slammed the mostly empty mug on the table and stood to leave.

"So succumbing to the perceived will of others isn't weakness?" he countered, not moving from the chair. She could leave if she liked, he had the satisfaction of knowing she was getting mad at him for asking her to the ball. "My offer still stands" he said, "but if you decline, I hope you are able to do it for the right reasons, and feel free to talk to me anytime you wish."

Pandora didn't look back at him as she stormed out into the cold. She would deal with him later for now she just needed to get away.

Peter stepped aside as Pandora walked out of the door. "Hey! What's got you steamed?" he asked.

"He actually had the nerve to ask me to the Yule Ball." Pandora said looking back over her shoulder, "Like I'd be caught dead going with anyone from Gryffindor."

Peter laughed. "Yeah, right. I don't think Reginald would be too happy about that, either." He grinned. "If you're mad enough, tell him and watch the fireworks."

"Reg hasn't even asked me to go yet." Pandora said frowning. "I'm beginning to think I'll have to go alone."

"He's probably taking you for granted. Figures you're going with him so why ask? It'd serve you right to find another Slytherin to take you -- not me, mind. I'm already going with Alena."

"Who else is there?" Pandora said with a sigh. Then shook her head, "I've got a few things I need to buy I'll talk to you later." Pandora added and walked away before Peter could see the tears that were fighting to form in her eyes.

Peter watched her go and shook his head. He didn't understand women. He shrugged and walked into the Three Broomsticks. He got himself a butterbeer and looked around for a place to sit. Spotting Alena, he grabbed a chair from another table and sat next to her.

Muriel looked at Peter, with astonishment. "Uhm... hello." Muriel said, quietly. Just because she played Quiditch with Peter, didn't mean they'd socialized regularly.

Alena, on the other hand, smiled. She pulled him close, and gave him a kiss, regardless of whether or not he was willing to put up with it.

"What-ah... oh. I see." Muriel said, putting two, and two together, and figuring out who Alena was taking to the Yule Ball.

Peter took about two seconds to figure out what Alena was up to. Not a bad tactic at all. He kissed her back, then draped his arm around Alena and smiled at the other girl. "Hi, uh, Muriel, right?"
