Mission: Christmas Break

Of course Reg and Jen would be the only ones who would understand what his said. Reginald just laughed and put his head down. All the old woman would have been able to understand was the hissing. She had a scared look on her face as her lips began to quiver. "Ssshe'sss gonna pop!" The snake yelled as the woman pushed her trolley away and then screamed to high heaven.

"Snake!" The old woman yelled at the top of her lungs and then ran off.

"I meowed. Technically I was trying to be a cat, but ehh. Oh well. You think ssshe had never ssseen a sssnake before."

"I know, I know. Back into the box I go." Rasputin sighed as he slithered back into the carrier.

The woman came hurrying back into the car with a Bobby. "See! There's a snake in here!"

Jennifer looked at the police officer. "There's a PET snake in here, sir. We're going home to spend Christmas with my parents. I can't leave him alone for the holidays, now, can I? That's a cruel trick to play on a pet. I'm sorry the lady has a problem with snakes. We didn't mean to scare her."

They officer checked on Rasputin, looked over the cage, eyed both Jen and Reginald, then nodded, satisfied. "Sorry to bother you. We'll be off now."

Rasputin looked up at the bobby. He hissed slightly and then tried to look at him with big innocent eyes, failing miserably.

He led the woman out of the car, comforting her as they went.

When they were gone, Jen smiled. "I figured he'd take it better from me than you." She turned the cage so the cage door wasn't facing the door to the car and opened it again. "Just don't get too far away in case you need to hide, okay?"

"Thank you." Rasputin slithered out and then looked over to Jennifer. "I tried to give him the whole puppy dog look, but I got the feeling he wasssn't buying it." He smiled and then hissed softly as he made his way toward the window.

"Yeah, the puppy dog eyes don't work so well when you're a snake," Jen said, shaking her head. "But I think we can work on your meow. It might be a good idea. You teach me to hiss and I'll teach you to meow." She grinned at Rasputin. "I think you'd make a cute cat. A purring snake would be ... interesting." She took Reg's hand. "Would you like to learn, too? I'd love to hear you purr."

"Me?? Purr?? You take that back. I'm not cute." Rasputin paused slightly. He sounded angry towards the reference. "I'm not cute. I'm dangerous. I'm no where near cute." The snake was now starting to sound almost depressed. The idea of him being though of as cute made Rasputin think that all the work he put in at coming off as dangerous seemed to be for nothing.

"I don't know, Ras. Lately you do have a bit of a cute thing going for you. Maybe you should learn how to meow." Reginald laughed a little and then looked to Jennifer.

"Thatsss it. I'm ssstaying in the box. I hope you two are very pleasssed with yourssselves. Next thing you gonna be trying to do isss ssslapping a bell and collar around my neck." The snake replied with an angry hiss.

"That sounds like a good idea. We should look into that when we get to Bristol."

"AHHH!. I don't want to hear anymore." Rasputin yelled again from his cage.

Reginald laughed, knowing full well he was joking around with his scaly friend. He let out a sigh and then looked over to Jennifer. "You want to hear me purr then all you have to do then ask. You just have to make sure you got something nice on for encouragement."

Jennifer turned bright red. There was nothing she could say in response to that.

"Jussst ssso you know. If I had the ability, I would probably throw up right now." The snake chimed in, breaking the silence between the two of them.

Jennifer laughed, grateful for the snake's intervention. "That's okay, Rasputin. I think you're adorable. Maybe we won't give you a bell. Maybe it'll just be a big red bow," she teased. "I think I'll reserve the bell for Reg."

All that was heard was sighing coming from the box. Reginald looked out the window and then leaned back with Jennifer as the ride continued. After a couple hours of riding the train they finally got to the Bristol where naturally Jen's parents would be there to great them. Reginald did what he could to get most of their stuff and finally get moving to greet them.
