Rooting the Square (Backpost)

Posted on Saturday, 11th of August, 2012 @ 11:18am by Seventh Year Prefect (G) Jennifer Collins & Seventh Year (R) Fiona MacLeod & Fifth Year (S) Pandora Crump

Mission: New Semester
Location: Arithmacy Classroom
Timeline: Valentine's day

Edward prepared a special lesson for the day. Though a good deal of them likely wouldn't appreciate it. He'd come in today in a white linen suit covered everywhere with hearts in various reds and pinks. And his ever-present pidgeon companion was in a tiny white T-shirt with a big red heart on the front. He watched as the students filed into the classroom.

Pandora took a seat as far away from Jennifer and Reginald as she could. For a change she even moved closer to the front of the classroom so that she didn't have to see them. She pulled out her book and parchment and sat doodling on a spare piece of parchment while she waited for class to start.

Jen was happy to finally be able to sit next to Reg in the open and not pretend she hated him. She found a seat in the corner next to where he usually sat and pulled out a book to study while she waited for class to start.

Fiona took a seat near the back of the class and dropped her stack of books on the table next to her.

Barny had been about to sit down at the table where she had put her books, he ached inside, after what happened at the tea shop over the Hogsmeade weekend, he couldn't blame her for being angry, but he hadn't known that the people in the shop would be necking. He'd thought it would be something nice, not... like that. He whispered to her, "How many times do I have to say I'm sorry, I didn't know the place was going to be like that?"

"Everybody knew the place was like that," she whispered back.

"I didn't." He looked at her, anguish on his face. "If I had, I never would have taken you there."

"I know," Fiona said quietly, letting him off the hook.

Evan and Nathan walked in to the classroom together and took a seat near the back both were kind off flush, as they hurried into class.

Reginald walked in with a smile on his face. He walked to the table where Jen was and then plopped his bag on it with a slight laugh. He sat down, kicked his feet up, and then leaned back looking over to Jennifer. "Did I miss the magic numbers yet?" He didn't even know why he was taking this class, but it probably had to do with Jen being there to. He was pretty sure he was doing it for her, although he didn't have the heart to tell her he really wasn't interested in it.

Jennifer shook her head, deciding to take Reg at face value. "You're in luck, nothing's started yet."

Reg smiled at her energy for learning. He never thought it would be this fun for her. Of course, he wasn't all that excited like she was. "Oh Joy." He replied with a bit of sarcasm in his voice as he smiled. "Honestly, Jen. How do you do it?"

"I love learning," she replied simply.

Pandora looked back over her shoulder and scowled. The two love birds were making her sick and she wished she could get away from them somehow. She turned back toward the front of the room and made sure she was ready for taking notes.

Jennifer noticed Pandora's glare and tried to ignore it. She felt sorry for the Slytherin girl, knowing she once thought herself to be Reginald's girlfriend.

But if what she'd heard about Pandora and Benjamin was true, she'd found herself someone who would see beyond the hard exterior and hopefully help Pandora be a nicer person.

The professor cleared his throat and the students quickly turned to the front and settled down for the days' lecture.
