Mission: September 1 A new Beginning
Location: Waiting room
Timeline: October 11th, 2020

Professor MacAulay waited in the side room ready to greet the champions as they arrived. She had no idea who would be chosen, but it was her responsibility to gather the champions and explain the rules.

Jennifer walked slowly into the room and gave Professor MacAulay a wan smile.

"Miss Collins! I must say, you will make a fine champion."

"But, Professor, I'm more suited to research than being a champion."

"Did you know some of the best champions are studious?" Maggie said.

Jennifer shook her head. She'd never thought that a bookworm could even compete with quidditch champions.

"Champions need to be studious, determined and to think around problems. You possess all those qualities," Maggie assured her.

The door opened again. "Welcome, Miss Lagarde."

The girl said nothing.

Corbin bowed to the professor, his hair flicked to the said as he stood back up. "Pleasure." he replied.

"Mr. Collins! What a pleasant surprise!"

Barny was still a bit shaken over the look on Fiona's face, but gave his best to smile, "It's common sense, though. After talking to you about possible jobs. This would look good on my resume for Auror. Not to mention it sounded like a bit of fun."

"Only if you do well, Mr. Collins. Only if you do well."

Barny smiled at MacAulay, "There is that", he thought to himself, but it wasn't a matter of try, trying got you where, it was do or not do, and he had to do. This wasn't a case where one could afford to plan for defeat, he could only do his best.

"Merci, Madame MacAulay," Pierre said with a nod. "I am honored to be 'ere." His French accent was quite noticeable. "Thank you for your 'ospitality."

"It is our pleasure, young man."

Jacen simply nodded in reply to the professor as he walked in. He still felt apprehensive about being a champion, but he wasn't going to dispute the goblet.

Reginald came a few minutes after Jacen. He didn't bother with the formalities as he just went right to Jen.

Maggie couldn't help but grin when Reginald raced into the room. "Mr. Price, do act with more decorum."

Reg ignored the comment from the Professor and took Jen's hands in his. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief as he gently placed his forehead to hers. "Hi." He whispered with a smile on his face.

A double dilemma. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or is someone thinks we'll fail miserably," she whispered. She was glad to have Reg with her. Nothing against Barny, but now that Reg was here, she felt like they could actually do well in this competition.

Barny extended a hand to Reg, "Glad you could make it, Reg."

Reg looked over to Barny. He was still smiling from being with Jen and let out a soft sigh. His eyes were slightly teary as he took Barny's hand and gave it a hard shake. While he still held onto Barny's hand, he let out a slight laugh. "Think I was gonna let you have all the fun? How quick you forget. I'm still a Slytherin." He let go of his hand finally and gave him a nod, thanking him for offering to help Jen. He didn't say it out loud, but he felt like he knew what Reg was hinting at.

"Slytherin or not, we're Hogwarts all, and houses be damned for this. It's like in the history of magic class said, only when the houses work together are we at our best. Jen's almost a Ravenclaw with her brains, so that's 3 of the houses at least." Barny thought, but didn't say, that lately Reg had been acting more like a Hufflepuff than a Slytherin, so that made all 4 houses for us then. Barny's smile grew a bit as the humor in that shook away the shock of being chosen.

Fantine just sat there with a evil smile on her face. She was in it to win it, nothing more and nothing less. Also she had seen a cute English boy sitting at the Ravenclaw table that she had decided to 'get to know better'.

"Hey yaw, Ain't it somethin' we all got chose?" She said with a bit of a chuckle. She was a bit out of place from the others, instead of robes she wore a pink hoop skirt.

Barny looked over at the new arrival. He remembered this one. Part of the "in" crowd that he had never been a part of, never wanted to be a part of. His expression soured a bit. She was inane, but crafty, and gladly used others to get what she wanted.

Lindsay noticed Barney looking at her, to which she paid no mind. She was used to people ogling at her, and she was also used to ignoring people that she didn't want to ogle back at. "My my, I just can't wait to find out what our first challenge!" She said, again with her southern drawl but full of enthusiasm.

Jennifer looked from Barny to Lindsay and back. Barny obviously recognized the girl. Jen wondered briefly at that, but let it pass. She wasn't his type. Too ... fluffy. Too obvious. "I wonder what kind of champion she'll be," Jen wondered to herself.

Reg crossed his arms over his chest and looked around the room. He was suspicious at the moment. He never put his name in, neither did Jen, so all of this must have been someone's practical joke. The most likely suspect was his father, but so far his father made no attempts to hint it was him. Normally, he would be very pleased with himself, but he didn't see any of it yet. Right now, Reginald was just going to have to play this all out and take care of Jennifer.

When all the champions arrived, Maggie stepped to the head of the room. "As you now realize, this time we have three teams of three. This means that each challenge will be more complex, that you will need to work together as a team to succeed. There will be no showcasing. One champion cannot try to win by his or her self. Each team will be judged on how they completed the task and how they worked as a team. The first team to compete each task will win points. The team that works best together will also receive a point or points, depending on the task. As always, you must work within your team. You cannot get help from others. Now, get together with your team and talk. Your first challenge will come at the beginning of the month, after Halloween."
