"C'mon Reg, we don't have forever, she's broken the first curse!" Yelled Barny as the keys launched a particularly vicious attack that left his face bleeding in several places, and would have taken an eye if he hadn't closed them in the last second.

[CONTINUED]

"Well Genius! If you give me something specific to look for other then, I dont know, It's a key, I might be able to find it!" Reg yelled back slightly as he shifted through keys. He rolled a bit and extended his wand, sending another Confundo at the attacking keys to by him some more time.

Jennifer continued to work on the runes. They interlocked and wove around each other, making it more complex. She had to figure out which runes went together, remove the curse, and then move on to the next set.

Her spell wore off and she got hit in the back of the head by another key. "Stupid thing," she muttered. "Second curse broken. I think there's one more."

Three more keys thumped her in the head, breaking her concentration and almost ruining a spell. "Stupid things, back off!" A thin beam of fire shot out from her wand, causing five keys to burst into flame and fall to the ground. She threw up another shield and went back to her curse-breaking.

"Got it!" she called triumphantly as the last curse was broken. "Do you have the key yet?"

"Does it look like we have the key yet, Sweetie?" Reg yelled back and then looked over to Barny. "Found anything, Dreadlocks? Cause I got nothing but keys of plenty and I'm getting a little of sick of seeing the same things over and over again."

Jennifer looked around, trying to find some connection between the keys and the door; something that would help them find out which key was the right one.

Another key buzzed her head and she swatted at it like a fly. It was then that she noticed the markings. She'd spent so much time working on the door that she hadn't noticed the keys also had runes on them. "The keys are runed!" she shouted to Reg and Barny. "Find the ones that match the runes on the door!" She glanced back at the door. "The beneficial runes, not the cursed ones."

"I was asleep when they taught runes!" Reg shouted back as he looked around frustratedly. Of course it had to be runes. One of his worst subjects as he was attacked by a few keys before sending out a Stupified spell. "There has to be a better way to look at the keys aside from letting them HIT MY FACE!" He yelled and then paused as he looked over to Barny. "Collins! You think a Body Freezing spell would work on them!"

"Then play match the fancy symbols," Jen called back. "Try a slow spell. Slowing them down might work better than a full body curse." She wasn't sure if the keys counted as bodies.

Barny was getting angry, he shouted "Stupify!" and a dozen keys fell down, stunned. He tried to look at them, but the others started coming at him in force.

That would take far too long. "Accio Kano Rune Key," she said. It was worth a try. Kano was the rune of opening. If there was a key with that rune, it might be the right one.

Three keys flew towards her. "Stupify!" If it worked for Barny, it would work for her. The three keys fell to the ground. Each had a rune of opening etched on the side.

"Well, it's worth a shot," Jen said, grabbing the three keys. She stuck the first one in the lock. Nothing happened. A moment later, there was a loud, piercing wail and a Bansidhe came through the door. "Guys! Help!" She jumped to the side and pointed her wand. "Protego!"

Barny turned and aimed, being careful not to hit Jen, that extra second it took to aim made him choose a different spell, "Silencio!" He had no interest in hearing a Bansidhe wail right now.

With the wailing silenced, Jen tried another key. This one also failed. "Okay, third time's the charm, right?" she muttered as she put the third key in the lock and turned it. The door swung open, revealing a long corridor.

"Keep it from following us and let's go!" she called.

Pushing Reg through the door after Jen and closing it behind them, he said "Colloportus!" and aimed the wand at the door, then heard the low rumble and saw dust trickle from both walls of the thin corridor. "Run!"

"I'm not sure if we can make it before we become pancakes!" Jen said as she saw the walls begin to move inward. Still, she ran as fast as she could to the far end of the corridor.

Jen went far enough beyond the corridor and turned to make sure the other two made it as well.

Pushing Reg in front of him, Barny emerged from the hallway in the nick of time, pulling his right boot out just before the walls slammed together with a reverberating slam.

Jennifer hugged both boys tightly. "That was too close. Now, let's find the portkey and get out of here."

The three began a careful search of the area. Fortunately, it wasn't too hard to find the small key against a far wall. "All together? Let's go home."

As the three of them touched the key, they found themselves back where they started, in the Garden, where the Judges and the Deputy headmistress awaited.

One of the judges came up to them and made some notes on his clipboard. "Yes, we will contact you later with the final results."
