Mission: September 1 A new Beginning
Location: Great Hall
Timeline: Halloween Evening

The Great Hall had been tricked out in Halloween style, with orange and black streamers and dim lighting provided by floating animated jack'o'lanterns. The music was by a new band this year, The Sirens, and by the sound of the lead singer's voice, it could be true that there was indeed some of that blood in her, as many a young man glanced her way.

Barny stood by the entrance, hoping Fiona would show. She'd never given him an answer, when he'd asked her, not really. He leaned back against a wall, partly out of sight, looking at the people coming in for a sign of her red hair.

For her part, Fiona wasn't sure if Barny still wanted to go with her. She'd been so busy helping Jen study and keeping up with her own schoolwork that she'd barely had time to breathe, let alone decide if she was going to the dance. But now that the first challenge was over she wanted to take a short break -- even if it was just to have a look around and go back to the dorms.

As it was a masquerade ball, she created a simple costume that would fit the occasion. She dressed as Titania, Queen of the Faeries. She wasn't sure Barny would actually meet her, so she was a little nervous as she approached the Great Hall.

Barny saw Fiona and his breath caught in his throat. He walked forward towards her. "You look amazing, Fiona." He said with a smile. "I'm happy you decided to come."

Fiona blushed, not quite sure how to respond. "I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it until today."

Barny smiled, resisting the urge to scratch at the key-inflicted wounds on his face. They had healed them up to the point where they were closed and well on their way to being healed, but they itched quite a bit. "I'm happy that you did, I would have looked pretty silly standing by the door all night, and I would have been lonely."

"I doubt that. Now that you're a champion I'm sure you'll have girls flocking to dance with you."

"But you're the only one I'm interested in, Fi..." Barny said. "I'm not like some people that bounce around from person to person."

"I know." And she appreciated it.

He offered his arm, "Shall we? I wasn't the best at it, but the lesson on dancing is still fresh."

Evan descended the grand staircase whoring a black tuxedo and a white mask covering half his face like the phantom of the opera. There he stood waiting for Nathan to arrive.

Maxwell came down the staircase in his Tuxedo, he was fixing the cuffs as he walked. It was a way to be both costumed and formally dressed as he did not want to draw undue attention to himself. He had even placed a slight bulge under his left arm. The potion was easy when one can focus and he was able to get a slight transfiguration. He was going to be Daniel Craig for a few hours as James Bond; or until the potion stopped at Midnight.

He waited at the bottom of the steps for a few moments until he noticed the Teal Halter dress with the Raven hair with another of the slight alteration spell had made the American Forth year Girl from across the pond. The American Student
was Naomi Harris from the latest of the Bond Girls. She had the signature formal dress as well coming down the steps with grace and poise. Naiya Jones from the American School had volunteered for the slight transformation. Being of the same ethnic background the potion made an easy change of her.

"The Name is Bond, James Bond." Maxwell said in the suave voice that came with the disguise.

"Eve..." She accepted the arm to be escorted. "You must tell me how you did this I have a few people I would like to be?" Jones winked.

"That is a secret..." Maxwell retort as they made their way to the ball.

Jennifer wanted to relax for a few hours and nothing sounded better at this moment than spending some time dancing with Reg. Or just spending time with him. If she were honest, she'd rather spend time somewhere quiet reading or talking, but as two of the Hogwarts Champions they needed to make a public appearance. So she headed to the Great Hall to wait for Reg.

Nathan soon arrived dressed as Prince Charming, taking Evans arm they entered the Ball together.

Standing outside the Great Hall, Jacen was waiting for his teammate Lindsey to arrive. He was dressed in his school dress robes, complete with tie and shined boots. To say he felt nervous would be an understatement, his heart was beating so fast, Jacen had trouble calculating his pulse. This was the first time he'd taken a girl out to a dance and he wasn't sure he was prepared for it. Taking a deep breath, Jacen started pacing back and forwarth.

Lindsay stood in front of a full body mirror, making sure her bright yellow gown was perfect. She took her time preparing herself with silk white gloves and crystal shoes. She placed a crystal tiara a top her head too finish her outfit off, the perfect southern princess.

Jennifer noticed the nervous Salem Champion and walked over to him "Hi. Waiting for your date?" She'd chosen to dress as Peter Pan because, as one of the Hogwarts Champions, she felt she'd fallen into Never-never Land.

Jacen stopped pacing and turned to face Jennifer, "um, yes I am. I really hope she's not late" he said, rubbing his hands together.

"I know the feeling. I'm Jennifer, by the way. I don't think we've introduced ourselves."

Jacen bowed slightly, "Jacen Targaryen, it's nice to meet you" he said, as he reached into his dress robes, pulled out a small book and opened it to a page near the front, "Jennifer Collins, correct?"

"Correct. What's the book for?"
