Mission: September 1 A new Beginning
Location: Great Hall
Timeline: Tues Feb 27th, 2022, 7am

Barney was breaking his ordinary routine. He'd woken up with a headache and his muscles aching, so he was skipping his morning run for the first time since he'd come to Hogwarts. He looked around for Fiona, Jen and Reg at their usual area.

Maurelle strutted into the room confidently after a restful night. As she passed by the lone Hogwarts Champion in the room she smiled noting he was in a condition no worse for wear. He would be in no condition to perform in a tri-wizard challenge paving the way for Beauxbatons to make up for their last shortfall. Despite the event not going as she had planned she had still managed to weave her will into the competition without the slightest hint of foul play detected.

She smiled sinisterly and placed her hand on the student's shoulder. "Dear, you don't look so well, you really should get yourself looked at."

Barney looked up at the woman, Murielle? "I'll be fine, I never let a stomach bug take me down. Besides I Have something up in my room to help, a bit of stone magic I made a while ago and never got to try."

"Well I certainly hope it makes you feel better." Maurelle lied patting his shoulder. "I wouldn't want to see a champion have to leave the competition.

"Be pretty horrible if I did, considering the geas on the champions." Barney looked at Maurelle. "You ever read what happened to champions that tried to drop out?"

Maurelle was not interested in conversation with the kid, she simply wished to see where his mind was and how capable he would be of completing the task ahead of him.

"I have not, but I can not image it would be as terrible as failing one's team simply because they were not up to the task." Maurelle replied venomously before stepping away.

Barney watched her go, dumbfounded, then angry, what a b..."

Kelly interupted, "You aren't running today?"

"Huh, err, no, I'm not feeling right." answered Barney.

"Your eyes... why are they yellow?" Asked Kelly narrowly.

"Huh?" asked Barney.

"Get to the nurse, you've been poisoned." said Kelly. "Polishweed by the looks of it."

"What?" asked Barney

"Professor Longbottom was talking about it earlier this semester, being poisonous, I... looked up the symptoms at the time." Answered Kelly. "You may be a Griffyndork, but you're a Hogwart's champion, and I want us to win." Kelly stalked off, looking mad.

Barney got up, his food didn't really look appetizing anyway. He headed for the nurse's office and realized just how bad he really was as his vision doubled on the stairs. He hoped he would make it to the nurse's office.

Kelly looked over at Keesha and Grace across the table, with the limited space because of 3 schools being hosted here during the championship. "So... Anything interesting going on in the Griffyndor side of the world?"

Keesha looked up at her. "No. Nothing more than is going on everywhere else. All anyone can talk about is the tournament."

Kelly nodded, "Well with us winning the first part, it IS something to be excited over. I just hope the nurse can do something for Barney." Kelly blushed, "He is part of our team and all."

Millie was sitting over at the Ravenclaw table with Craig.
"Why are you like this?" Craig asked nudging Millie.
"I don't know... its just..." she said shaking slightly as she took another piece of toast.

"Thats the eleventh piece of toast you've eaten" he said.
Millie simply sighed in response. "I just hope Hogwarts wins today" she replied. "I need to fly again Craig. I need to get on my broom again, I miss Quidditch"

"Well why not wait until tonight and we'll go together, we can sneak up to the top of Ravenclaw tower and take a quick flight around the astronomy towers?"

"I'd like that, thanks" she said resting her head on his shoulder. Before he knew it she had dozed off. He just sat there stroking her blonde hair, there was something wrong and she was hiding it.

Jen and Fiona came in together. Jen looked for Reg, who hadn't arrived yet. Fiona looked around for Barny who was also absent. As they were a little late they decided to eat first and find the boys after. With this being a tournament day it was quite likely they'd eaten early and were off somewhere getting ready.

Jacen walked into the great hall a little later than he'd planned to. He'd thought to get up early and get some practice in, but life it seemed had a different plan and he'd slept in instead. If it wasn't for his familiar lucian, now plodding along beside him, he could have slept the whole day away. Looking around at the students who had already arrived, Jacen headed for a space at the end of the Gryffindor table.

Reg walked into the Great Hall. He seemed like he hadn't even slept. His hair was still a bit of a mess and his eyes seemed to have bags under it. He let out a yawn and looked around, running his hands through his hair.

Jennifer moved over so there was room for him to sit next to her. He looked terrible. She hoped they'd have a chance to spend some time together so she could help him feel better.

Professor Heartseed stood up, "Students, as you are well aware, today is the second of the Tri-Wizard Challenges. The first challenge didn't go quite as we expected, but without giving anything away, this next one should be quite interesting. I remind people that the game is just that, a game, and a team one at that. Let's play hard but fair out there!"
