Under the weather

Mission: September 1 A new Beginning
Location: Nurse's Office
Timeline: Tues Feb 27th, 2022, 7:15am

Jason had just finished taking his potion when a student stumbled into the office, knocking over a tray near the entrance. "Margarita! Trouble!" shouted Jason as he ran over and helped Barney to a cot.

Margarita rushed out from a back room. "Oh, my!" she said, hurrying over to the boy and helping place him on a bed. "What happened?"

"Not sure, Kelly said I might be poisoned, Polishweed or summat?" Barney said. His muscles ached and his head spun. "I don't know when or how, but everything aches." Barney kept a grip on Jason's arm to steady himself upright on the bed.

Margarita took out her wand and waved it over him. "Yes, you are poisoned. Fortunately, I have something that might do the trick. It's a general antitoxin. If it doesn't work, we'll move on to something stronger. Worst case scenario, we brew up something new, but that's rare. Most take to the antitoxin right away."

She bustled into the back room and came back a few minutes later with a tall glass of a vile-looking green concoction. "Drink this down -- all of it, mind, you must finish every drop." She handed the glass to Barny and smiled.

Barney grimaced, but considering the geas and everything else, he quaffed it straight away, swallowed, then let the last few viscous drops fall into his mouth and swallowed again. It tasted like something that had been left to "cure" under a wet rotting log. He grimaced. In the muggle world they had flavors that could be added to their medicines, one would have thought the wizards would have caught up, like the every flavored beans.

"Good. Now, give it five minutes," she said and bustled off to clean up the back room.

Presently, Barney was starting to feel better, he absently scratched at his skin, and was surprised to see some of it come off... "Huh?" What had come off on his fingernail looked like the stuff that came off Rasputin when he was molting, except half of it was green and half of it was purple... "Mr. Wolf, can I see a mirror?"

Jason looked over at the boy and almost took a step back, "Ummmm, errrr, I'm not sure that's the best idea, lad."

Barney frowned at Mr. Wolfe, "I really think I'd better."

Jason grumbled, "Don't say I didn't warn you..."

Barney got up and walked to the mirror... "Purple... with green spots, lizard skin..." Barney looked over at Jason, "Really?"

Margarita came back into the room. "How are we feeling?" she asked.

Barney looked up from the mirror, "Alright, all things considered, I suppose this is an example of magic coming with a price, and it will wear off after a while?"

"In three to twelve hours, yes." She handed him a bezoar. "Take this, too. Just in case we missed something. I would rather give you too much than not enough. It won't hurt you, dear."

Barney took it and looked it over, then swallowed it. He'd tried not to taste it, but the taste filled his mouth anyway, making him grimace. "If they ever invent a way to make wizardly medicines taste better, someone's going to make a fortune."

Jason stifled a chuckle, "That they would, but I think most of the recipes taste terrible to teach you a lesson not to get in the situation of needing them again."

"Medicine should never taste like candy," Magarita assured him. "You never want to mix the two."

"Candy, doesn't even always taste like candy, Marge, or haven't you heard of someone finding a vomit flavored every flavored bean?" Jason laughed.

"Ok, on that note, I'll be going, and I don't think I'll be buying anymore every flavored beans for a while on hearing that..." Said Barney.

"Okay, dear. Be careful," Margarita said.
