Mission: September 1 A new Beginning
Location: Forbidden Forest
Timeline: Day Before 3rd TWT Challenge

Barney looked at the proffered pinky, "You guys seriously still do that here in England?" He sighed and accepted. "You know, forewarned is fore-warded. I can't believe it's he-who-must-not-be-named, but it's someone of the same caliber, and we're all out of basilisk teeth, swords of Griffyndor and Elder wands..."

Rasputin looked up at them and let out a frustrated sigh. "Fine... Ssssince the mountain won't come to the sssnake... the sssnake will go to the mountain." The snake looked over to Tribble and raised a brow. "What? I heard it sssomewhere. Don't look at me like that." He paused slightly and then looked over to group of professors who everyone had their eyes on. "Rasssputin Holmesss isss on the cassse!" He began to slither away toward the gathering of teachers to get a closer look. He began to yell the theme from Mission: Impossible.

Jen giggled. "Just be careful, Ras. And don't get caught."

After she'd looked at the dead unicorn, Jen slipped back into teh bushes to wait for Rasputin.

"Quiet woman! Your interrupting my grove" Rasputin yelled as he slithered slowly closer. He continued humming the theme from Mission: Impossible but this time it was soft. He slowly eased his way to a better view and noticed the cloak covering the body. "Hmm... curioussser and curioussser. Ssshould I look? Ssshouldn't I look? Ehhh... I'm in the belly now, might asss well go for the full monty." He stayed close to the ground and slowly eased his way under the cloak, bumping into something. "What the hell? Why is it all sssticky?" He looked around and paused in shock. "GUYSSS! THERESSS A DEAD UNICORN UNDER HERE! I'M GONNA NEED A BATH AFTER THISSS! REG! YOU HEAR ME!"

Reginald looked over to Jen and the other with a soft sigh and shook his head. "I think I'm going to kill him. Does anyone want to adopt a snake?"

Jen hid her face against Reg's chest to keep from laughing out loud. "I think he's cute," she replied softly. "Should we tell him that we already saw what was under the cloak? Nevermind. Let him think he's doing us a favor."

"REG! ISS IT BAD THAT I GOT SSSOME OF THE BLOOD IN MY MOUTH!" Rasputin yelled and then slithered out the other end. "Ehh... How can anyone drink that? It tassstesss.. awful. Like butt. Horrible, sssticky, vile, butt... with ssspicesss. Too much ssspicesss. Remindsss me of that time your mom tried to cook for herssself. Do you remember that, Reg? That didn't end pretty."

"Yes, that IS bad," Jen hissed in parseltongue. "But as you're a snake, you should be okay. Come on, let's get out of here."

"I dunno, might want to watch him for a few days, it restores a half life, it might half kill him." Barney mock whispered. "Or he might start growing a unicorn horn..."

Jennifer rolled her eyes and grabbed both Rasputin and Tribble. She put Tribble in her pocket and draped Ras around her shulders. "Come on, we need to get out of here."

Without waiting to see if anyone else was following she disappeared into the woods.

Fortunately, it wasn't hard to follow the trail back to Hogwarts. Once there, she went straight to the library and began to research the effects of unicorn blood on animals.

Fiona looked at Reg and Barny. "Well, she's not supposed to be left alone, so I guess I'll go after her." With that she, too, headed back to the castle.

Barney followed Fiona, happy to be heading out of the forest. If something could take out a unicorn, it wouldn't be something that he wanted to face in the dark, nearly alone, not did he want the two girls facing it. He followed them quickly, Reg following close behind.

Jason stood and watched the children go. At first he'd been worried that it was one of them that had done it, but their discussion had allayed that fear quite nicely. Nice lot of champions that Hogwarts was sporting this year. Strange that they'd decided there would be more than one, but... He was glad they hadn't continued investigating the course. If they had, he would have had to report them, but seeing as they had followed professors, been with the groundskeeper, and were headed straight up to the castle, he would overlook them breaking the rules to come into the forest. Jason chuckled, it wasn't like he'd never snuck into the forest a time or three when he was at Hogwarts.

He turned to the matter at hand. The body couldn't be left here and Goldric had gotten what he could from the corpse. He levitated the corpse and moved it to the hold he'd magically dug just off the course, then used magic to cover the hole. He used a little spell he'd made a long time ago and caused pretty blue flowers to sprout up over the grave. At least they would be flowers eventually.

Sighing and keeping his wand in hand, he continued his last inspection of the course for the night. Tomorrow was going to be a long day and he needed rest if he was to get through tomorrow.
