Mission: September 1 A new Beginning
Location: Forbidden Forest

"Most definitely, but there's been no hiring since I came to Hogwarts. I believe the most recent hire of a professor would be Miss Morgan, but she came recommended by the Ministry and Governors." Heartseed said, "I'll look into the records, though."

Maggie was less than impressed with Maurelle. The woman was meddlesome and seemed to be underfoot at the worst possible moment. "Headmaster, we also have a number of guests at Hogwarts because of the tournament," she looked pointedly at Maurelle. "We need to look at their activities before we start pointing fingers at our own staff."

Arrogant swine!Maurelle said to herself referring to MaCauley.

Maurelle knew exactly what Miss MaCauley was implying and smiled wryly. As much as she would have loved to take credit for such a wonderous display of the dark arts this work was not her own, someone else in Hogwarts displayed a skill which may have rivaled if not surpassed her own. The thought made her stomach turn, however making the Deputy Headmaster look like a fool in front of everyone made her smile once again.

Maurelle stood up and smiled at Maggie. "Of course Deputy Headmaster I would be more than willing to help in any way I could. I have remained on campus as you have requested and I would be happy to confirm this with Mr. Corrigan. Perhaps then we can refrain from chasing fruitless leads and instead focus upon the ones that would actually lead to the capture of the culprit."

"Your responsibility is to see that the tournament is untarnished," Maggie said. "We don't know if this is related, so until it is, it is a Hogwarts matter."

Goldric leaned down slightly and looked at the corpse of the fallen Unicorn. Although he knew exactly what the cause was for its downfall, he had to play it off like this was an outrageous act and it must not go unpunished. "Need I remind you, Head Master. This isn't the first Unicorn to fall in this forest." He stood up slowly, folding his hands slightly and giving Heartseed a stern look. "I remind you that the Forbidden Forest is filled with many creatures who fight amongst themselves, and it is one of the only places you can find a Unicorn. Further more, Voldemort himself was said to have survived on unicorn blood long before Professor Morgan came to Hogwarts. Although this is a horrible act and whoever has done it is cursed, accusing one of our own, is going too far."

Barney watched the display between the Games Ministress and MacAuley, he remembered that she had come to him the day of the challenge and the interchange they had. She could have been one of his poisoners. But the unicorn. He'd seen it before on his morning jogs, it had seen him too. They'd never tried to do more than be seen by the other. He doubted the unicorn would have stood still if he'd tried, though he was a... He blushed, glad of the darkness. "This isn't good." he whispered to the two girls.

"No," Jennifer whispered, inching forward to get a better view and to make sure she was well-hidden from the others. She wished Reg were with her as the memories of their last foray into the forest was still a clear memory.

Fiona chose to stay by Barny. "Who would do such a thing?" she whispered.

"I don't know, the only uses of Unicorn blood are in Dark Arts. Maybe that Durmstrang transfer student might know?" asked Barney.

"Do you think we should ask him?" Fiona whispered back.

Reginald, with the help of Rasputin, trekked through the Forbidden Forest, having told this is where to find the others. He was curious as to know what lead them out this far.

Rasputin, was the first to reach them and didn't hesitate to call out to Reginald. "I found them, Reg!" He yelled at the top of his small lungs as he reached their feet and tried to see past the brush and faculty. "Their sssneaking around and not minding their busssinessss... Assss usssual!"

"Shh!" Jen hissed at the snake. "You're making too much noise."

Rasputin looked up to Jennifer. "What? It'sss not like anyone elssse but you and Reg can underssstand me." He poked his head out slightly, but still couldn't see passed the teachers. "Hey. Can one of you guysss pick me up? All I sssee are long robesss and big human buttsss."

"You like big butts?" Jen asked.

Reginald walked up behind the others and whispered. "So.. I hope there is reason you guys are all walking around the Forbidden Forest. Emphasis on Forbidden." Although this place wasn't as intimidating to him as it would have been before, it was still off limits for a reason. This was still the first place Reg came to Jen's rescue and they both feel for each other, but even then they barely made it out in one piece.

"We're watching," Jen whispered.

"Hey, it looks like they are breaking up, we'd better get moving." Barney whispered.

Jen pulled back into the bushes and waited for the group to pass. She gave them plenty of time to get out of the woods, then went to see what they were looking at.

Something had been covered by a cloak. She gently pulled back a corner and gasped. "Who would kill a unicorn?" she whispered. It was a rhetorical question. She'd studied unicorns and their properties. She knew what sort of person would do such a thing, but what she didn't know was who on Hogwarts now would do this. The fact that someone had concerned her greatly. "We should leave this up to the Professors. At the same time, we need to keep our eyes open. Something is definitely wrong."

Jennifer looked at the other three and then held out her pinkie finger. "We mustn't tell anyone that we know. Pinkie swear."

Barney looked at the proffered pinky, "You guys seriously still do that here in England?" He sighed and accepted. "You know, forewarned is fore-warded. I can't believe it's he-who-must-not-be-named, but it's someone of the same caliber, and we're all out of basilisk teeth, swords of Griffyndor and Elder wands..."
