Dealing with Disaster (part 3)
Mission: Another School Year, Another ...
As she rounded a corner, she saw him talking to his little sister. She slowed, not sure if she should interrupt them or not. If it was just Reg, she wouldn't hesitate, but Violet didn't like her much.
Reginald finally stopped and got an idea. Quickly he opened his robe and removed his wand from the inner pocket. "Of course. Why didn't I try this earlier?" He looked down to Violet than smirked as he held his wand out and performed the necessary motion as he said "Expecto Patronum" to cast the Patronus charm. After all that time of training with Jen, he was finally able to preform it perfectly in one shot, forming his King Cobra patronus. The glowing cobra coiled around before looking over to Reg and giving a nod. "Go find Jennifer." The Patronus seemed to hesitate at first before slithering away, only to stop a few feet from Jennifer before disappearing. Reginald turned around quickly and noticed Jen standing right there. He gave her a smirk and raised a brow. "That was fast. Be Honest, how long have you been standing there?"
Violet rolled her eyes, seeing Jen for the first time. She wasn't all that impressed, but she did manage to keep on a smile on her face in order to seem polite.
Jen smiled politely at Violet, then gave Reg a kiss on his cheek. "You have magic? Everyone in the Great Hall last night was cursed."
"Unless I sleep walked, I didn't make it." Reginald replied softly, smiling as he saw the look in her eyes. "For some reason I fell asleep. I finished putting on my costume, was nearly out the door, and then I felt really tired. Next thing I know, Jen I was waking up, in my bed with my costume still on, and the sun hitting my face." He paused slightly, raising a brow. "Wait? What do you mean? What curse?"
"I have no magic," she said, spreading her arms a little. "Can't cast a spell to save my life. Nor can anyone else who was at the party last night. Nurse Lopez says we were cursed." She paused and continued. "Well, the students were, anyway. None of the professors have been affected." She smiled at Reg, "I'm glad you weren't there to get cursed."
"So am I." Reg replied with a smirk. "Luck of the draw I guess."
Jennifer saddened. "I can't go to class, either. It wouldn't help if I can't do any of the work. So, I'll be spending the day in the library."
"Are you serious?" Reg replied with a chuckle, placing his hands on his hips and shaking his head. "Figures. Your primary concern is your studies. You're more disappointed in not being able to do homework than not having magic." He slowly took her hands in his and brought her close. "Jen? For once, put aside your homework and studies. Enjoy yourself. Magic, or no, you are still the same girl that gets me out of bed in the morning and is in my dreams at night. You may not have Magic, but we can still have fun."
"Yes, but I'm going to have a lot of work to make up if the nurse can't find a cure for my curse," she said. "By studying, I'll at least know what they're learning and the theory behind it." She paused to smile up at Reg. "You're the only one who can get me to stop studying. What do you have in mind?"
Reginald walked with Jen off to the side and turned back around to face her. "Well. We can either go find something to do together, actually spend some quality time together, or we can look into this Mystery that's developed. I think if you, and I, put our heads together we can solve this. We even have a snake we can feed Scooby Snacks to." He smirked slightly "Did I get that reference right? That cartoon with the kids and the talking dog who is constantly eating?"
Jen groaned softly. "Not fair." She shook her head and gave him a teasing grin. "Yes, you got the reference right." She caressed his cheek before continuing. "We haven't had much time to spend together lately, have we? And I do love a good mystery. So, what do you have in mind?"
"Either or works for me." Reginald replied with a smile.
Violet, who had followed them and had reached her limit, cleared her throat loudly and put a smile on her face. "Reginald? Are you going to leave me to play house?" She said in a soft voice and a slight tilt of her head.
"That's against the rules at Hogwarts," Jennifer replied soberly. Even though the girl was new, she should know that there were some things that were strictly forbidden in and around the castle. From what she'd heard from other students, that sort of thing did happen a lot at Hogsmede. "I want to talk to him about what's been going on and if there's anything we as Head Boy and Girl can do to help." And maybe do a little cuddling. She missed cuddling with Reg and watching old TV shows.
