Mission: POWER OUTAGE! ; Or What to Do When Your Wand Stops Working?
Location: Entrance and Great Hall

Maxwell was playing around with the 'flash paper he had brought from from home, simple parlor tricks to muggles but where he had a slight catch was it made a flash like normal magic and he was able to ignite it and give the illusion of it. He was noticing that his magic; even the simple things were not quite as 'easy' as they had been before; not that he was that really good a WIzard since he was behind the time of learning curve compared to most students. He felt something and he turned as he touched the chain around his neck to make sure it was still there?

"You okay Kairi?" Maxwell put a hand upon her shoulder; she was his friend and she did not look well.

Kairi turned at the sound of a familiar voice, jarred out of her own thoughts. "Hi" She said quietly, looking into Robin's eyes. Her right hand started to shake, holding back the tide was getting harder. "No, not really. I was just getting used to having magic, I like being a Witch. There are all sorts of whispers going around the school... and I have been worried about Maya. Things have been so, on the blink....I haven't even tried my stone since this all started. I...I don't want to break it...." Kairi started to cry and practically leapt into Robin's arms. "What's going to happen to all of us? What if they can't fix this? I....I might never see you again...."

The school has been here forever." Robin said with some confidence. "I do not think this is the worst thing; they had a Magic war that did more damage than this little thing." He nod. Besides we live in same country within drive of one another... or long range bike ride?" He tried to calm her. "We have the best professors around should we not have confidence in them?" He assured. "Besides they are not closing the school.. yet so we have some time." He hoped the 'made up confidence' would work as he had some magic. "The professors have some magic I saw Professor Joseph use magic; it was not perfect but that means there is hope?"

"That's wonderful for him. None of my friends have been able to do a thing. Not even the 'Accio' spell is working for us. If we can't use it, how can we study it? I've only seen a small handful of people with 'iffy' magic. If I could only just get one spell to work....I'm sure they are doing their best...but that doesn't seem to take the fear away. I'm really scared Robin and I can see it all around the school too. I'm scared my wand won't ever work for me again and I want that so desperately now. Even Maya looks so sad..." She tried not to sob too much into his robes.

"We are all scared; but you and I know what it is like not to have magic; think of those that made fun of us being less. If they see us freaking out they will be validated." He told her. "You are better than that and the magic cannot be gone forever... it is unheard of because it cannot happen for long." He told her. "I am not going to get the power to be a wizard and let it go I will find out how to kick start it if I have to .... you will have to just accept a little ... vacation for now. Never has magic been lost long enough to record so we should be okay. ... maybe it is just a reset like some video game or something?"

"We can only hope, I suppose." She sniffled a little and gave Robin a hug. "Thanks, Red Robin. I think I needed that." She gave him a small squeeze and blushed a little. Kairi was going to do her best to stay by Robin for as long as she could.

Robin was very red in the face, here a girl was hugging him; a thing an only child is not really used to. "Y-you're welcome... any-time." He gave her a squeeze back. "But then you are a strong lass so no worries right?"

A small smile came across her face along with a blush, he had returned the squeeze and it felt so warm. Robin was shy and kind but brave wen he needed to be, no wonder he was in Gryffindor. The students were slowly milling in as the professors were finishing the round up. There was an uneasy air in the place. What would happen once everyone arrived? So long as they were not told to sit in their houses she would stick with Robin, Kairi certainly felt calmer that way. "I'm glad you think so. Thanks"

"Never a problem." Robin looked about. "Anytime you need." He said sheepishly. "But what do you think the Professors are going to say?"

"We can only hope they have a solution, but I am not a mind reader. Some of the others that came in before me mentioned something about a new professor. They sure were trying to round us up quick. Our house heads had a real 'bee in the bonnet' about getting us here and fast."

"Hello," Jennifer said, walking up to the Gryffindor table. She glanced up at the head table and raised an eyebrow curiously. It was an odd time for changes.

Fiona's magic was gone. She had no idea what happened. She wasn't at the ball, and she'd been careful to stay in the library, but it was too late.

Barney sat down, he felt a little guilty about breaking up with Fiona, but with so little time left in the sxchool year, continuing on when they were so obviously different, had such different goals and ambitions. Still, it felt like he was lost and adrift, knowing that he didn't have her anymore.

Fiona didn't look at Barny. Instead, she turned to Jennifer. "What's going on?"

Jen shrugged. "I don't know. Rumors say Professor Fortescue either quit or was fired. Maybe we'll find out tonight?"
